An Army Guy’s Story of Faith

Today I have the privilege of introducing you to my awesome brother Linc, and to let you hear firsthand how God has worked in the life of this tough army vet.  Here he is while stationed in Hawaii.

A Soldier Comes to Faith

Linc had the opportunity to share his story of faith at he and his wife Kimball’s church on Easter.  He describes how God used his time in the U.S. Army and Special Forces Assessment & Selection Course to be an avenue of both pride and humility in his life.  It was in those humbling moments, though, that he began to reach out to God again after having turned his back on his childhood faith & had begun living as an atheist.

In his despair, Linc felt beyond hope and help.  He says,

In my brokenness, I was beyond being witnessed to.  I was beyond visiting a church or small group.  I was way beyond having a conversation…
But I wasn’t beyond Jesus.

Linc was not so far gone that he was out of the reach of God.  His arm is just too long and His heart too kind.

In this 7 minute clip, you will hear how God introduced Himself to my brother and brought hope & joy to his life.  Just click on the image below.  Then fast forward to minute 52:54.  He speaks until 1:00:35.  (You are of course welcome to listen to the entirety of the Easter service, if you’d like.  He’s a member of an awesome church!)

An Army Guy's Story of Faith

As his sister, I can not tell you the joy it brings me to know that my dear brother knows the Lord, walks with peace everyday of his life & that I will get to stand next to him in heaven as we glory in the One who has redeemed both of our souls.

Love

I am so grateful to God for hearing my brother’s cry & saving him.  It makes me think of 3 John 1:4- I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.  I know this deep heart joy.  And I am so thankful.

I pass along my brother’s story to you for several reasons:

  1. For you to relate.  If you are in a similar place spiritually, feeling beyond hope, I pray you’d also cry out to Jesus & come to know Him in a real way.  He promises to hear you and come to your rescue.
  2. To give you hope.  Maybe you are like I was- praying for someone you love to trust in Christ & you’ve been praying for a while.  It’s not too late!  God can still save them.  Keep praying & trusting.  There is still hope.
  3. To remind you of God’s power Perhaps you already know the Lord, but are in a hard situation right now.  Don’t forget God loves you.  Let Linc’s story remind you that God sees you, even when no one else does, that He is mindful of you & He has a plan for your good & His glory.
  4. To magnify the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus went to extreme lengths to bring us to the Father.  My brother’s story brings huge glory to Jesus.  Linc went from being spiritually dead to spiritually alive.  This is the miracle of salvation & it is no small thing.  It is amazing, in fact & only God can do it through Jesus.

So, I pray you have been encouraged!  Please share Linc’s story if you think it would be beneficial to others.  I know he wouldn’t mind & would love the opportunity to be used by God!

I’d love to hear your story, too.  Share in the comments below how God brought you to salvation in Christ.  You just never know who might need to read it.

    1. You are welcome, Lorin! Psalm 71:14-15 “But as for me, I will hope continually,
And will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness & of Your salvation all day long; For I do not know the sum of them.”

  1. I agree with Kristen. This post made my heart happy. There is such joy knowing that you and Linc (Brent and Kimball also) have accepted Christ and your future is secure. But there is such hope and joy that others can know His love and forgiveness also.

  2. I can remember many nights crying and praying that God would save Linc. There is hope…indeed, there is hope! I am so thankful that the Father has drawn Linc to Himself. Hallelujah, what a Savior!

  4. I have always loved Aunt Chick’s family over the years; and I love this younger generation. As I look back over the years, I can see God’s hand of protection on all of our family. Yes, God has a plan for each and everyone of us in a special way; God has used our family in a special way and I Praise His Holy Name everyday for his goodness toward my precious cousins. So happy for Linc and all his immediate family!

    1. Jean, thank you so much for your loving comment. This younger generation exists because of the faithfulness of your generation. Thank you for your godly legacy. We are proud to be a part of this unique family story.
